In November 1978, Mr. Chan Tok Joo, the present Managing Director? founded? Express? Trading? Co.?? - a ? medium-sized company? specializing? in the duplication? of recorded ? audio cassette? tapes.? From this? modest beginning,? the ? company achieved considerable? growth and by the early eighties, had become a ? leading player in the cassette duplication industry.
In 1984, the company continued its upstream expansion and? invested in plastic injection moulding machinery to produce cassette? parts and accessories like blank and c-zero cassettes,? outer boxes, CD jewel boxes? and racks. On the 15th of September? 1989, Express? Audio? Industry Sdn. Bhd. (EAI) was incorporated as a private limited company under the Companies Act 1965.
In ? 1992,? EAI? diversified? into? the? manufacturing? of ? uPVC? pipes? and fittings? under? the? EXACT? brand ? name? and? set? up? a? second? plant in Balakong, ?? Selangor. ? The? three-storey,? 16,000? ? square? feet? building? was completed in 1993 and? commenced production in July the? same year. In 1997, EAI was awarded the prestigious? SIRIM? (? Standard? and? Industrial ?? Research? Institute? of? Malaysia? ) certificate for achieving quality standards MS 1063:1986.
Responding ?? to?? the?? call? of? the?? ? Malaysian ?? government?? for? greater multimedia? technology,? EAI ventured into the CD replication industry in late 1996 by building? a? third ? plant? in Hulu Langat,? Selangor. Today, the RM 10 million plant is equipped with state-of-the-art discs? mastering, replication and printing facilities to produce high quality CD-ROM,? CD-Audio and? Video CD to meet the growing demand from local as well as international markets.
